Enjoy our tunage - BUT DO BE CAREFUL! Feeling the love in the blogosphere.

First of all let’s start with a disclaimer:

Word reached us via the twittersphere this week that a recent customer of ours had danced so much to 'Prostitute's Handbag' she did herself an injury. Do be careful with your expressions of joy and delight whilst you listen to our tunes won't you? Tingle In The Netherlands cannot be held responsible for any accidents that occur as a result of listeners’ dancing antics. We don't want some no-win-no-fee lawyer after us for not providing the proper ladders.

Fortunately for us, Lee Adcock didn’t let a sprained ankle deter her from writing a wonderful review of our album and also included the injurious track in a rather fabulous, dancetastic mixcloud that you can listen to via the widget below. But DO BE CAREFUL!

Lee very kindly gave us an absolutely stella write up in her Soundscape Memoirs blog.  'a blog devoted to introducing and discussing new releases from obscure, alternative, and otherwise unknown artists.'

You can read the review in full here.

We’ll just post couple of appetite whetting quotes here for reasons of personal vanity:

“Helen penned most of the outrageous lyrics on the LP, but “Mammals”, a disturbing catalogue of facts on various occupations (“the prime minister produces one pint of saliva a day…fashion designers will risk their lives to protect their young…monarchs frequently change sex during adolescence”), was actually Owen’s brainchild. And it’s just as engrossing – if not more so – than some of Helen’s wilder narratives.”

(Owen especially liked that one)

And of course we love this bit:

"Man, I love TITN. Perhaps that’s because I admire the old electronic masters – “Organisation”-era OMD, Human League without the chicks, John Foxx, and so forth – but also because these two harness all that dark 80s flair and then proceed to skew it even further into their own distinctive project. Go stream this sucker on their Bandcamp page and drop ‘em a few quid for the download (or a few more for the CD) – you won’t regret it, I swear."

But those quotes are a fraction of the full write up, so do go and check it out and read it in full!

There’s LOADS  more music recommendations on the site so well worth having a delve around. You can also get a feel for the author’s musical tastes by listening to the mixcloud below. We’d like to say a massive thank you for all the support and lovely feedback we’ve had this week. Thanks Lee!

T!TN on a joyously weird and ecelectic show from Bradford Community Radio.

If you missed our outing on Bradford Community Radio's 'When Big Joan Sets Up' never fear! We loved the description of the show as penned by its host Phil Cope pictured above:

Midnight tonight on Bradford Community Radio: 'When Big Joan Sets Up' - BCB’s dirty little secret tucked away on Wednesday nights at midnight, like a mad relative trapped in the attic in a 1970s horror film.

If you, humble reader, decide to join the happy band of insomniacs, skiving security guards and burglars that comprise our listenership, you can sample delightful new music in a bewildering variety of genres and one or two old songs as well.

Obviously, that description would suggest that this show would be right up our street - and it was. Host Phil brings you a riot of musical weirdness and noise in a John Peel stylie. We thoroughly enjoyed this one. Click here to listen again.

We've pasted the track list below as taken from Phil's blog. Listen out for the song that follows 'A Forest of Cocks' - that should give you a feel for how eclectic this show is. Thanks Phil!

T!TN interview on ‘One Collector Thousand Tunes’

You may recall a few blogs back where we mentioned that we’d been played on the show ‘One Collector Thousand Tunes’ hosted by Mitrakos Evangelos on Greek online radio station La Cooperativa Web Radio. We were also very flattered to discover a Tingle In The Netherlands page on the station website.

Following that post, Mitrakos asked if we’d like to be interviewed for a Tingle In The Netherlands special, so of course we said ‘Yes!’

You can listen to the full show, via the mixcloud widget below; the show includes some of our tracks, as recommended by us, as well as our interview.

You can hear our answers in both English and Greek as Mitrakos translates the answers for Greek listeners. So, many thanks to Mitrakos for helping us to reach new listeners overseas. Thanks Mitrakos!

Two Excellent Electronic Mixclouds for you from Essex and Kent!

HT: Despite being based up north we've been spending a lot of time listening to some great local radio stations from dahn sarf. Thanks to the wonder of the web, every local radio show on the planet is available in the global village and so we've been tuning in when'er we've been aired. This is all part of our slow but sure strategy towards world domination. Village by village, community by community, we will use our synthtastic stealth to worm our way into your ears and ultimately your hearts. Have you seen the time? I get more verbose when I'm tired...

So, first up we have Rob Harvey's Saturday Breakfast show from 22nd June 2013 which includes the likes of us along with Ultravox, Goldfrapp, Depeche Mode and ZZ Top. ZZ Top? Well anyway, it's a very good music show from Essex radio station Phoenix FM. We sent our CD to Rob last week and he has already reported that he can't stop singing 'Prostitute's Handbag'. Obviously resistance is futile.

Once you've listened to Rob's show, you can scroll further south and you will find a mixcloud widget from Sheppey FM's excellent Bluetown Electronica. This show is sheer bliss if you love electronic music in all its forms. Our tracks don't appear on the listings on the mixcloud, but we're there, hiding in clear sight...

Owen's a poet and he didn't...oh nevermind...

Helên : Of the two of us, I’m the  one tagged as the poet, so it’s made a nice change to see the track ‘Mammals’,  which is 100 % Owen’s work, included in a podcast that specialises in poetry and spoken word as well as music. We’re obviously rubbing off on one another so it will only be a matter of time before I start recording myself dropping spoons down a well whilst ravelling on about waveforms.  Poetry / music  - it’s all about the sounds and the rhythm baby, which brings us nicely round to the latest edition of Echolalia Radio:

A Heady mix of of spoken word and rare music.
Poets, Troubadours and Word-smiths.”

There’s some interesting music on this one: ‘I’m on the Left’ by ‘Tweakage’ is rather good and a little reminiscent of ‘Public Service Broadcasting’ with some nicely squelchy music accompanying RP spoken word.

For proper poetry types there’s some Bukowski, Hunter S. Thompson and Robert S. Frost with a Smiths track thrown in for any angst ridden Mancunian fops who fancy a listen. All in all, this is quite an enjoyable mix. We also liked the fact that the mixcloud's cover picture for this edition of Echolalia featured one of Owen's favourite mammals, a cheeky little dog. So, check it out hep cats!

The Notorious New Wave Show - Host Gina Achord - June 21, 2013

HT: A big thank you goes out to Gina Achord for playing 'Prostitute's Handbag' on the latest edition of The Notorious New Wave Show

This week's show features exclusively female fronted bands as well as an  interview with Saffron, singer for Republica. Plus La Roux, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Pretenders, Vile Electrodes, Bananarama, Goldfrapp, Strawberry Switchblade, Blondie and little 'ol us. I enjoyed it so much I had my period! (That last sentence is a joke btw). As ever, it's great to have our music played but even better when we're played alongside so many great artists old and new. Thanks Gina!

Tony Thornborough's (not bad) Radio Show 17/06/13

It was nice to see our track 'A Forest of Cocks' get some airplay the other day. It doesn't get out much despite being OFCOM safe (just so all of you community DJs know - there's no swearing in it). It was swiftly followed by 'Fantasy' by Factory Acts. As Susan from the band said: "One might say one woman's 'Forest of Cocks' is another man's 'Fantasy' or vise versa or t'other way round." Indeed. Here's the mixcloud - Thanks Tony!

Mixclouds Galore...

There's not a cloud in the sky and it finally appears as if we have some seasonally sunshiny weather here in Blighty after months of cold grey gloom. Here's a picture of some sunshine beaming down on Dungeness Power Station that we took when we were on holiday the other year just in case you've forgotten what sunshine looks like.

However, there's a couple of welcome clouds on the horizon both of which would make ideal playlists for your BBQ or similar outdoor extravaganza.

The first one is a treat for synthpoppers as it includes T!TN along with a spot of metaphorical rainfall. Here are the show's details as written by the host Barbara Laurson of Fallen Rock Zone Fame.

Episode 2 of The Sun And The Rainfall is a collection of Alternative Indie artists ranging from Alternative rock to synth and electro pop and new wave: Curxes, The Big Pink, Klovavenus, Fiction 8, Tingle In The Netherlands, Ming The Mong, Lotropic, Tenek, Low Tide Theory, R3SET, Jenna F., Photostat Machine, Jonteknik.

Mixcloud number 2 in this blog is another aural delight from Bob Osborne as described by the man himself:

This time around the focus is on Aberdeen band Miss Lucid with all of their new EP and all of their first EP - I spoil you sometimes. As well as that the new single from Mr Graney, all of the new EP from The Nyco Project, another cut from the forthcoming "Glamourpus" release from Luis Drayton, and loads more brand new tunes....and one or two classics thrown in at the end to spice up the mix......more information at www.bobonscr.com

Friends of Bluetown 1 by Paul Randall

If you haven't tuned in to Sheppey FM's Bluetown Electronica (Sunday's 6pm) you've been missing an absolute treat for Electronic music fans.
Never fear; those good people at Bluetown Electronica have put this mixtape together which includes a few of us who have been featured thus far. This one's got T!TN as well as Owen's ambient project Air Fracture plus our friends Factory Acts, Microvolt and Pinklogik and many more. All excellent stuff. It's a really well put together mix, and we're not just saying that because we're on it, but obviously that helps!
