Rattlebag Radio Presents...Under The Electric Blanket by By Ian Thistlethwaite

On Monday night we put out a call to any DJs who might like us  to record a jingle for them. We were already recording a couple for Mitrakos Evangelos from La Cooperativa Radio in Greece (make sure you click on that link - we'll have more news re. this in future posts) so we thought we'd see if anyone else wanted one.

Suddenly, out of the twittersphere appeared a man by the name of Ian Thistlethwaite who asked for a jingle for one of his Rattlebag Radio podcasts.  Of course, we were very happy to oblige because we're nice like that.

The very next day, our jingle appeared in the 'Under The Electric Blanket' mixcloud podcast which is pasted below. Much as we'd like to claim that our jingle is the best thing on there, it isn't, as the mixcloud is full of some really interesting new electronic sounds and musicians, including a favourite of ours Cloud Waste and the Calf.

There's a good few artists on here that we intend to check out further. It's well worth a listen...despite our jingle...

'So no stonefaced John Foxx action here'. Make Your Own Taste

HT: A big thank you to the 'Make Your Own Taste' blog for taking the time to listen to our album and to write a very nice review, which includes lots of lovely quotes that we can use to big ourselves up. I was chatting to the blog's writer and apparently listening to our album is like being in an episode of 'Ashes to Ashes' - needless to say, we took that as a huge compliment! As mentioned 'Make Your Own Taste' also gives good quote:

"..the sounds could not be more 1982 vintage, which is pretty cool, those cold, haughty synths and disdainful female vocals, with the robotik beats so beloved of clubbers of the era."

You can read the full write up if you go here  https://makeyourowntaste.wordpress.com/2013/05/26/may-netaudio-revue/  Scroll down a bit for the T!TN write up. We also appreciated the fact that the blogger in question didn't mind stepping a little out of their comfort zone and into our wonky synth world; 'Make Your Own Taste' is an excellent music blog for lovers of ambient, drone, acoustic and experimental music, much of it very different to the T!TN sound, but no less appealing if you enjoy a wide range of genres as we know a lot of our blog readers do. So, off you pop - there's LOADS of new music on there that is well worthy of your ever hungry ears.

The British Are Coming....via the radio in Canada!

Today's bit of blogosphere thanks goes to Canadian DJ Matt Dalzell who broadcasts an indie music show featuring British bands, entitled aptly enough, 'The British Are Coming'.

The show airs on 103.7 FM CFBU in Niagara Ontario at at 10pm local time, which is quite late over here in the UK. Mitrakos Evangelos: Enas Sullektis Xiliades Hxoi #39

Another great mixcloud here as compiled by  Mitrakos Evangelos in Athens. We always get a bit of a buzz from knowing that our music is being enjoyed and played all over the globe. Obviously that's the power of the web, but it's nice to know which bits of the map we can colour in as we venture forth in our quest for world domination!

We also liked the fact that we were played alongside our pals Factory Acts as well as more bands that were new to us whose music we enjoyed on this playlist. It's just win, win win! Many thanks to Mikrakos for including us in this mix.

The usual mix of new music and one or two classics

Echolalia Radio EP 08: Lost My Heart on the Tide - 23/05/13

Yesterday saw the first outing of T!TN on Echolalia Radio a show which features spoken word and poetry as well as any unusual musical offerings that take the host's fancy. This edition included two of our tracks as well as one of Helên's poems that we recorded before embarking on the journey that is Tingle In The Netherlands. It's a collaboration with The Ethel Ronson Experience aka Conrad McQueen who created the musical loop that was then stitched together by Owen in his studio with some added OJ vocals for good measure. Make of that what you will! If you like the track you can get it as a download on Helên's soundcloud page.

This is an EXCELLENT mix that was recently featured on The Monty Show. There's some classic blasts from the past melded together with some brand new stuff including tracks from us and our friends, those naughty scamps Luis Drayton and Toska Wilde. We both  really enjoyed this one.

"What would Glass Candy sound like if they sang about dicks?"

We got a succinct but beautifully formed blog post on the Ongakubaka music blog where we were likened to one of Owen's favourite bands, Glass Candy, as per the title of this blog.

There's mention too of the free download of 'Prostitute's Handbag' which you can get as a 'name your price' 3 track 'single' release from Bandcamp.

Also available from our page at Nerve Echo . If you scroll down the T!TN Nerve Echo page a bit you'll see both our version and The Atomizer Remix  just below our album. Just put a zero in the price bit and get it for free.

Alternatively, if the twittersphere is your more permanent residence, you can get a couple of free downloads via out newly set up twitmusic page. If you like our synth sound but are sick of the dicks you can download the instrumental of 'A Forest of Cocks' .

'A Forest of Cocks' - Instrumental via twitmusic player - free download.

You will also find a few of our tunes on there available for streaming and tweeting to your pals as well as another free download: 'Prostitute's Handbag' Atomizer Remix

The Sun And The Rainfall podcast - Alternative Indie Show 1

Our friends at Fallen Rock Zone are taking a short break from their blogtalk radio show but all is not lost because Barbara has decided to keep her hand in by producing some podcasts, featuring many of her favourite bands, to fill the void.

Here is the first episode of The Sun And The Rainfall as curated by Barbara: 'A collection of Alternative Indie artists ranging from Alternative rock to synth and electro pop and new wave: Photostat Machine, A Terrible Splendour, Tingle In The Netherlands, Eleven:Eleven, JRumney, Precious McKenzie, Father Tiger, Killwave, The Open Feel, Splintered In Her Head, Southway, Mansions & Junipers, Low Tide Theory, Fluorescent Echo, Farmacia.'

We especially liked the cover of Warm Leatherette by Fluorescent Echo as well as the tracks by our friends Farmacia and J. Rumney. All in all this is a great play list and we're very happy to be included too!

Square Pig’s Electro Chart - Vote T!TN

For lovers and discoverers of all types of music, whether it be indie, acoustic, electro, 80's or folk, the new Square Pig website is well worth a visit. This is a goldmine for bands and music fans alike as it provides opportunities to promote gigs, music and venues as well as providing a platform for loads of new bands, us included.

We've found our way onto Square Pig's Electronic New Music Chart along with our friends Factory Acts and some other new electronic artists, all of which are well worthy of your ears. More artists are due to be added to the chart in coming weeks.

The voting element is a good bit of fun, which will hopefully give all the bands an incentive to get on board and spread the word to their fans, but the main purpose is to showcase new music. There's a chance that if you already like one of the bands on there, you'll discover something new to your taste as well. Brilliant!
We'd also like to send a big squeal of delight and a trough load of gratitude to the Square Pig website for including us; like all of the bloggers, DJs and reviewers who spend their time, usually for free, promoting new music, these guys are part of the life blood of the independent music scene that provides an alternative to the tide of  mass produced swill that we're fed by the mainstream music industry. That's enough of the extended pig metaphor, suffice to say: Thanks Square Pig!
