Synthopia 52 - Relay Punishment and infinite Colour 28\29 September 2013

Synthopia has now settled into its new home and time slot, which currently works out at 11pm on a Saturday night here in the UK. This meant that this week we were both able to put in an appearance in the show's chat box to say 'hello'.

For those of you who weren't able to make it to the show's mixlr page during the broadcast, you can listen via the PodOmatic widget below. All of the artists involved have given their consent for the show to be made available to download; there is also an archive of previous shows that we'd recommend you check out if you're looking for new, independent synth artists such as ourselves.

We thoroughly enjoyed this one, not least because we were on it! We'll post the artists and tracklisting below the widget so that you can check them all out further and will leave it to the show's host Andrew Skerat Kennedy to give you some further introductory info.

"Hi I'm Skerat and welcome to Synthopia. Todays show features brilliant synthpop\electro tunes from, Tenek, Jonteknik, Analogue Wave, Naked Lunch, Shiny Darkness, Endless Shame, and more, as played on mixlr.com Synthopia is a weekly show that celebrates all new synth music since the millennium. When Big Joan Sets Up: Bradford Community Radio 26th September 2013

We're not exactly sure who Big Joan is, but we do know that when she sets up you're in for a joyous musical voyage as navigated by Phil Cope.

This edition included the first ever radio play of a track from our 'Mirror Writing' EP. The track in question was Namklim which Phil chose as much for its pronouncability as its listenability [those are made up words but if you take the time to listen to 'When Big Joan Sets Up' you'll realise that it's a show that truly merits having made up words in any blog post about it.]

Anyroad up, if you're bored stiff with the mainstream and want some musical stimulation plus a few tracks that might remind you of the hey day of 'Opportunity Knocks' when you could watch a strong man doing some sort of pecs noodling dance in time with a catchy tune, then this is the show for you.
There's some spectacular aural outsider artistry on this show. We can't recommend it highly enough.

If you haven't got a baldy clue what we're on about, that's as it should be and you should go and listen NOW!  We were most flattered to be included. You can listen 'again' if you click here.  Thanks Phil!

And do visit the show's blog for full track listing. Thank you.

Rob Harvey's Sept 14th Saturday Breakfast Show - what did he call me?! Naughty scamp.

HT: Another top show from Rob Harvey, which sees us played alongside some of our favourite artists such as The Specials (HT) and Throbbing Gristle (OJ) plus a good mix of old and new from Vivien Glass, Modovar, Low Tide Theory, Ultravox, Vile Electrodes, Spacebuoy, Visage and many more as they say in show bizz. There's plenty here for fans of retro pop and also the burgeoning new synth scene, so as always it's great to be included. Listen out for our track 'Girlie Disco One'.
In the absence of a video, we recommend that you stare at the animated gif below, which features the woman Tingle with a disco waste paper basket on her head. It's art darling.

The mixcloud widget is ready to go at the bottom of the page, but before that, here's the blurge from Rob:

"The edited down version of my 3 hour Saturday breakfast show - first Broadcast on September 14th 2013 on Phoenix 98 FM.

We had brand new music from Vile Electrodes, The PolySonic.....Plus we had special guests, Live in the studio were MODOVAR, who played a stunning little Vince Clarke set and chatted about a special Christmas show BAS X MAS [Dec 14th - @the Edge]

This weeks chosen track for 'That track that started it' feature, was picked by Phoenix fm presenter and DJ Chris Siviter.
I chatted about weird rain hats and ate cakes as we enjoyed live music and chat......that what I call a Saturday Morning.

T!TN on Rattlebag Radio 09/09/13

Another outing for us on Rattlebag Radio thanks to Ian Thistlethwaite. Ian's radio show is broadcast on mixlr.com/ian-thistlethwaite  See the Facebook Page for full details.

This mix sees us in the company of Can, Ivor Cutler, Steeleye Span, Kate Bush and The Fall amongst many and varied others. Listen out too for a jingle / ident type thing from us where we sound terribly nice. It's a deliciously quirky and eclectic collection. Thanks for including us Ian!

Here's Ian's introduction to this mixcloud:

"Originally scheduled for broadcast Sunday 08th, but rescheduled to Monday due to technical/server, difficulties, this is the latest edition of Rattlebag Radio, as played on RLYDS. A wide range of brilliant music, including Rattlebag's "Intromental", krautrock classic, epic epic, folk finale, three tenuously linked tunes, and new feature where the Rattlebag Players help to improve a worldwide smash hit."

August 31st Saturday Breakfast Show on Phoenix 98 FM (Edited)

Some more airplay for us on Rob Harvey's Saturday morning breakfast show last week. As ever, we're in great company with some old favourites and lots of new stuff too. Rob seems to be going for the world record number of plays of a greeting from Steve Strange, a bit of mischief that makes me smile every time. (HT)

Thanks Rob!

Here's the blurge from Rob himself:

"The edited down version of my 3 hour Saturday breakfast show - first Broadcast on August 31st 2013 on Phoenix 98 FM.

We had brand new music from Martyn Bailey......and an exclusive New track from Johnny Normal. This weeks chosen track for 'That track that started it' feature, was picked by Paul Russell from the band, Eurasianeyes.
I chatted about a water long coastal walk and the often annoying thing I have of wanting a house as I stroll.

Join me every Saturday from 7 till 10am LIVE - www.phoenixfm.com - feel free to follow and Tweet me via @ROBRV"
